Stardust began its used book section in the middle of its first year. Books in the used book section are donated by community members and sold at 75% off the original price. Profits from used book sales are kept in a separate account and given back to the community in many different ways.
The teen booksellers at Stardust Books decide what to do with the money. Past donations have gone to the National Honor Society Cody Fund (a boy who had recently been burned on over 90% of his body and needed financial help), the Craftsbury E.L.F. Program (an environmental education program for elementary students), the Village Improvement Society, Hardwick Area Food Shelf, Craftsbury Recreation Committee, Craftsbury Historical Society, and the Craftsbury PTC.
In addition Stardust has set up a graduation award given each year to a Craftsbury Academy graduating senior.
